All the components of the face tend to age equally. Many people see only the effects of the aging process on the face and eyes, without realizing that the forehead is equally subject to the forces of time and gravity.
With age, the entire forehead above the eyebrows sags and develops deep transverse wrinkles, as well as wrinkles at the bridge of the nose. All these factors contribute to creating a tired appearance.
The procedure known as a brow lift, or forehead lift, elevates the eyebrows and removes the vertical and horizontal frown lines. Traditionally, this procedure was done through a long scar across the scalp that went from ear to ear. While this brow lift technique produces good results, it does leave the patient with a long permanent scar across the scalp that is often visible when the hair is wet.

In our practice, all forehead lifts are done using the new approach known as an endoscopic lift. This brow lift technique uses special instrumentation and a lighted camera through several small imperceptible incisions in the scalp. Under video guidance, we then elevate and reposition the brow, thus giving the eyes and upper face a more youthful appearance with minimal scars. The forehead is maintained in its new position with temporary titanium screws placed in the scalp. These are removed easily in the office after two weeks.
The risks of a forehead lift include bleeding, infection, loss of sensation, and hair loss along the incision sites. These complications were much more common with the traditional technique, and are now rarely seen with the endoscopic brow lift approach.

The endoscopic forehead lift is a safe and reliable procedure that restores a youthful appearance to the upper face and eyes as well. It is a good example of the focus of our practice, which is to achieve results with minimal approaches and imperceptible scars.
